RED

Cherries
Good for: beating insomnia

Shona Wilkinson, Nutritionist at Superfooduk.com says “Tart cherries are a natural source of the sleep hormone, melatonin. One study has shown that consumption of cherry juice twice daily can increase sleep time by more than 90 minutes a night”.

Blueberries
Good for: glowing complexion

They are excellent sources of vitamin C, which is vital for the formation of collagen that gives our skin structure and elasticity. Cassandra Barns, Nutritionist adds “Vitamin C is also an antioxidant, protecting our cells from damage. Bonus: blueberries are also low in sugar!”

Beetroots
Good for: boosting your workout

Did you know beetroot has been shown to improve exercise endurance? “Beetroots are a source of nitrates, which help the body to use less oxygen. Therefore, people will feel less tired when they are exercising. In addition, beetroot has the added benefit of lowering blood pressure” says Lily Soutter, Nutritionist and weight loss expert at www.lilysoutternutrition.com

Kale
Good for: detox

Spinach
Good for: concentration and memory

Shona explains “Spinach is a good source of folic acid and vitamin C, both of which are needed for production of neurotransmitters in the brain (substances that transmit nerve signals). Like other green vegetables, it is also a source of chlorophyll, which may favour the absorption of iron and promote red blood cell growth, to improve oxygen transport around the body and to the brain”

Good for: getting rid of cellulite

Turmeric
