Where flowers bloom, so do cocktails

Thebar.com unveils the world’s first Cocktail Garden in celebration of Chelsea Flower Show 2014

In a unique collaboration, thebar.com and 2013 Chelsea Flower Show champion, Laura Leong, have teamed up to create the world’s first ever cocktail garden to show the fun and ease of creative cocktail making and mark the return of Chelsea Flower Show.

Comprising over 420 glasses and a mixture of colourful flowers and foliage, the intricate display is a true feast for the senses. Specially designed by Laura, the 2mx2m cocktail garden showcases 15 different cocktail varieties, including three floral new drinks created exclusively by thebar.com to celebrate this year’s show.

The English Garden is a refreshing cocktail pairing cucumber, apple and mint and takes inspiration from all the ingredients you can find in a quintessential English garden. Infusing lavender and subtle rose aromas, Lavender’s Brew is a highly aromatic serve that evokes the sudden bloom of summer gardens. The Malted Marigold combines the visual delights of the golden marigold flower along with the complex aromas and flavours of 10-year-old Talisker whisky. Incorporating a base spirit for all tastes including whisky, vodka, gin and rum combined with fragrant fruits, lavender and rosemary, the cocktails featured in this display will have everyone celebrating their garden this year.

The beautifully scented garden took a total of 18 hours to create and required 20 litres of mixers and 300 flower shoots including: borridge, dianthus, lavender, rosemary, pansies, roses, marigolds.

Laura Leong, floral designer says “I was excited to be given the chance by thebar.com to create such a unique garden and for an occasion that is very dear to me.  This is the first time I have built a garden using cocktails and it’s one that certainly challenges all the senses. The vibrant colours of the cocktails and the repeating circular glass forms help magnify the plant materials giving a layered effect to the installation. We tried to evoke a summer feel ready to set the mood for Chelsea Flower Show and I hope everyone likes what we created”.

Paul Cornell, Marketing Manager at thebar.com said “Our cocktail garden celebrates the creativity and innovation of the Chelsea Flower Show and encourages people to think about their favourite drinks and give them a twist by incorporating some of these fun ingredients that can be found in many English gardens. Cocktail making is all about daring ideas and being creative with new combinations, even flowers. Drinks can be enjoyed in a variety of ways and at thebar.com we hope to inspire people by offering a wide range of imaginative cocktails.”
