Child 44 ★★★

Director: Daniel Espinosa

Cast: Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman

Based on the first of a trilogy of books by British writer, Tom Rob Smith

A secret police officer investigates a series of child murders where crimes of this kind do not exist.  Because of that he has to decide if he should carry on the case or risk losing his job and his home.  But things get more complicated when his wife is accused of being a spy and he then finds out she’s pregnant.

Tom Hardy plays an orphan turns World War 2 solider who then turns police officer after becoming a war hero in the Battle of Berlin.

This film touches upon the consequences of war and how one person can turn into a murderer.

It is full of plenty of action scenes and some brilliant performances.  This is more than the type of war film that we have seen in the past.
