Director George Miller is once again helming the latest instalment in the Mad Max franchise.
Set in a post-apocalyptic future where everyone is struggling for water and food and desperate to do anything to survive. The world is now a desert wasteland and everything has collapsed and nothing barely anything left of what the world once was. One man is willing to sort out the problems of the world but then meets a woman on the run who is determined to make it back to her homeland with the wives of Immortan Joe. Max Rockatanksy (Tom Hardy) seeks peace from the dreams that haunt him since his wife and daughter died.
However, Immortan Joe is not one to give up and is determined to get his wives back no matter what. What ensues is a chase around the wasteland.
Most of the film centers on Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman relentless in getting home whilst protecting Immortan Joe’s wives at the same time. It means that Max this time around is pushed to a more supporting role rather than lead role. Charlize Theron plays the lead character well and it’s refreshing to see such a strong female lead again. Tom Hardy also plays the silent but strong role well, showing that he has the makings to play the iconic character haunted by his past.
There isn’t much of a plot or much dialogue in the film but the action sequences, visually stunning scenarios and stunts more than make up for it.
Mad Max: Fury Road is an exhilarating ride from start to finish.
