Wonder ★★★★

Director: Stephen Chbosky

Cast: Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, Jacob Tremblay, Izabela Vidovic, Noah Jupe, Mandy Patinkin

Wonder is a wonderfully heartwarming story about August Pullman, or Auggie as he’s more affectionately known (Jacob Tremblay). He’s born with facial differences, so he is home schooled by his mom, played by Julia Roberts. When the time comes for him to join a mainstream school, his mom, dad (Owen Wilson) and sister (Izabela Vidovic) are understandably apprehensive about it.

The story follows Auggie’s transition into this new world and how he is, or isn’t accepted. The film is a sweet, tear jerker, that tackles and portrays compassion and acceptance and what it really means to be a hero. Auggie’s extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

It’s a film that should be seen by all, and something that we can all learn from and go out and look and treat people with more compassion.
